about

This is a tribute to Biz Markie and skateboarding
professionals in general.
DIY or DIE!

lyrics

Ha, ha, ha, haaa, check out this bizarre
Rabid style made by me, J to the T, you bring
Money, I'll get you skating, this is not a plaything
Maybe stay within your lane to keep hospitals waiting

Industry been watching, our facts of life blossom, from
Big bang to jeopardy, kinda like Mayim Bialik
Since we made it awesome, lots of haters lost some
Posers all adopt the style, because they want some

Cops tried to stop some, rippers with their prop guns
Lucky that we got a grip and don't get up and mob some
Only sport that every cohort, is supposed to flop some
Envy me like MVPs or lsd and drop some

Lackluster and wanton, shipwrecks set to rot some
Derelict problems - lagan, jetsam and flotsam, we're
staying alive, opposite of playing possum
Shit's changed a lot son, the Industry is on one

The industry, is goin' off
The industry, is goin' off
The industry, is goin' off
The biz, it goes on, it goes on

Hey there everybody and regardless of your partying
Some of us are old enough to be the culture guardian
Not saying I'm smarter than, aged like Atari and
Represent the plain states, LAX to La Guardian

When I started riding, skating was arising
Variflex was dying, Nash was high and dry and
Powell started thriving when Peralta retired and
Santa Cruz was shining, SMA was Blinding

H-Street was surprising, Hensley was my guy and
Anything he was trying Natas was no complying,
Sliding into slappies and spinning on fire hydrants
Hook-Ups were beguiling, Birdhouse started flying

Thrasher was reciting, the letter of the vibe and
Baker Boys were high and, Zoo Yorkers were fly and
Vans was driving, while Vision's license was expiring
Nike tried climbing in with, no rider mileage

But they're still surviving, just one more Goliath
Red Bull keeps on hiring, and Monster is a tyrant
Money keeps us hungry enough they can do the firing
In the end, we make the rules they must comply with

The industry, is goin' off
The industry, is goin' off
The industry, is goin' off
The biz, it goes on, it goes on

If you kill the metaphors and inside jokes, all I'm saying is
Without us, they got nothing, never forget that
We don't need them, they need us
In the end, middlemen don't matter
Skate to create, DIY or Gator die
Let 'em try, don't think, just ride

Rip in peace, Jonas Wray, Phil Shao
And of course, the greatest of greats, Biz Markie
