JToth took three of his beats and blended them together for some skateboarding history. He has a bachelor's degree to prove it

lyrics

In today's episode of history in the making
We explore skateboarding
In particular, the urethane revolutions of the 1980s
And how they affected change

Slash and turn, on some average curves, be
Sure to wear pads or don't crash and burn
Downhill bombers didn't trust the burms
Freestylers weren't concerned with being food for worms

Old school rippers had exclusive cliques
Listening to punk rock, dipping the Smiths
Pipes full of good hitting acid licks
Ride up the wrong hood, your man was kicked

Sidewalk surfing was like a new age
High on the way from wave to wave
Ollies were around, but not yet the rave
Cruising thru town was a still lazy day

California set new precedents
They traded rip curls for pool cement
Style was the king of the contest vet, but some
Robots brought tricks not invented yet

Vert got crowned as most important
Pools were downgraded to purist but potent
Tours cross country had lucrative moments, for the
Cool kids at least, not their putrid opponents

Older heads all became jealous pricks, when the
Youth forged ahead bringing hella new tricks
Was it their age or their balding heads?
Some kids were forced out and told to get bent

Money was a nothing to the aging set
Running from the law, often chasing death
Competition mattered, but it came and went
Culture vultures kept on taking their reps

Posing occurred, faces bled
Most got scared when the streets ran red, only
Those of the hardcore faith were left, would
Skating survive, or was this the end?

Penultimate at first, it became the church
Ramp riding birds got knocked off their perch
The streets were on fire, left vert in the lurch
Unusual suspects went from last to first

Videos became quintessential for birth
Especially in climates with perennial girth
Masonite cost a lot more that it's worth
Asphalt was preferred best surface on Earth

Earlier on, McTwists got you a purse, but
Hand plants couldn't satiate their thirst
Flamboyant clothes were replaced with terse, if you could
Ollie trash cans, you were king of the universe

Big companies were looking like lurks
Treating everyday skaters sort of like serfs
Big money makers making something off quirks, now
You could go to jail for skating the wrong turf

Awe yeah, let me kick it, kick it, feel the pop
Awe yeah, let me kick it, kick, feel the drop
Awe yeah, let me kick it, kick it, feel the pop
Awe yeah, let me kick it, kick, feel the drop
